Lucknow: On the auspicious occasion of Mahalaya, the Ramakrishna Math, Nirala Nagar, Lucknow, organized a special musical drama (Leelageeti) titled ‘Mahishasur Mardini’ on Monday evening. The performance, depicting the divine triumph of Goddess Durga over demonic forces, was staged at the Math auditorium from 7:15 pm and was also streamed live on the Math’s official YouTube channel ‘Ramakrishna Math Lucknow’.
The event drew a large gathering of devotees from Lucknow and neighboring regions, who came together to witness this devotional presentation ahead of the upcoming Durga Puja celebrations.
The musical drama was directed and performed under the leadership of renowned singer and composer Animesh Mukherjee, a well-known artist of All India Radio and Doordarshan, Lucknow. His team of ten local performers brought the narrative alive with powerful chants, soulful music, and devotional renditions, all inspired by the spiritual guidance of Swami Muktinathananda Ji Maharaj, President of Ramakrishna Math, Lucknow.
The evening was graced by Prof. (Dr.) Bhabatosh Biswas, Head of the Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery (CVTS), Vivekananda Polyclinic and Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow, who attended as the Chief Guest.

Following the performance, Swami Muktinathananda lauded the dedication and artistry of the participants, noting the devotional spirit reflected in their music. As a token of appreciation, he presented each artist with a plant sapling, symbolizing growth and life. Chief Guest Dr. Bhabatosh Biswas distributed prizes to the artists, acknowledging their contribution to the cultural-spiritual program.
The event concluded with the distribution of prasad among all devotees, marking the end of a spiritually uplifting evening.
